Gregg Smith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Gregg Smith is a founder of Proximiti and serves as its CEO. Smith co-founded Premiere Global Services Inc. in 1991 (still publicly traded) and then Z-Tel Technologies, Inc. that went public in 1996. His companies focus on adding intelligence to core communications services to add value for service providers and also for end users. Smith is the major shareholder and investor in Proximiti. His companies have raised over $200MM in public financing and over $100MM in private financings.

Prior to working in the communications industry, Smith was a banker for Chase and Bank of America in commercial lending positions. He also served as a financial consultant for technology companies in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia (1981) and resides in Tampa, Florida.

Charles W. McDonough, Chief Technology Officer

Charles W. McDonough is a co-founder of Proximiti. Prior to Proximiti, he had served as Senior Vice President--Chief Technology Officer for Z-Tel Technologies, Inc. since its founding. At Z-Tel, he was instrumental in creating the technical infrastructure that supported providing communication services to 2 million consumers and businesses. A key part of his responsibilities at Z-Tel was to develop innovative communication services, and while there he oversaw the development of Z-Tel's flagship enhanced communication product, the Personal Voice Assistant, which won three prestigious national technology innovation awards.

Before his tenure at Z-Tel, Mr. McDonough was a partner at Andersen Consulting LLP, where he worked for 23 years. During his tenure with Andersen, he lead client engagements with Kennametal, Westinghouse, Copperweld, Dravo, Mellon Bank, Bank of America, First Union, Solomon Brothers, Dow Chemical, Detroit Edison, Ford Credit, Fisher Scientific and many others. He also held a number of management and industry leadership positions within the firm.

He received a B.A. in Industrial Engineering and a M.S. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

Don Davis, Chief Financial Officer

Don Davis joined Proximiti in June of 2007 as Chief Financial Officer after serving as Acting CFO of Trinsic, Inc. During his seven year tenure with Trinsic/Z-Tel, Mr. Davis spearheaded several strategic initiatives, including the company’s retail roll-out into 49 states and negotiation/implementation of wholesale service arrangements with MCI and Sprint. From 1997 till 1999, he served as Senior Director-Industry Policy for Intermedia Communications, Inc. and in that role developed and implemented corporate policy initiatives involving regulatory bodies and the Bell Companies. Before joining Intermedia, Mr. Davis served for 22 years in various positions of increasing responsibility with BellSouth subsidiaries. Mr. Davis holds a BBA from the University of Georgia and a MBA from the University of Alabama - Birmingham.
